The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) is set to convene the 2026 Audit and Assurance Leadership Summit on August 13, 2026, at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, bringing together leading professionals and regulators to examine the evolving role of auditing and assurance in an increasingly technology-driven financial environment.
The Summit, themed “Audit Integrity in the AI Era: Independence, Accountability and Reliable Financial Reporting,” is expected to provide a platform for critical discussions on how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are reshaping audit practices, financial reporting, professional independence and accountability.
The event will be led by Dr. Rabiu Olowo, ES/CEO, Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, as Chief Host, alongside Mr. Olasunkanmi Mufutau Ayinde, Head, Directorate of Auditing Practices Standards (DAPS), FRC, as Host.
The Summit will also feature distinguished Special Guests of Honour, including Hajiyya Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, FCA, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN); Chief Hajia Zuwairat Talatu Kishimi, President of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN); Ambassador Shuaibu Ahmed, FCA, Senior Partner, Ahmed Zakari & Co. and former ES/CEO of FRC; and Sola Oyetayo, Chairman, Forum of Small and Medium-sized Practices (SMPs).
With artificial intelligence increasingly influencing data analysis, risk assessment, internal controls and financial reporting, the Summit is expected to address the need for audit professionals to maintain independence, professional scepticism, ethical standards and accountability while embracing technological innovation.
The gathering is also expected to strengthen collaboration among regulators, professional accountancy bodies, audit practitioners and other stakeholders in promoting confidence in Nigeria's financial reporting ecosystem.
The FRC's emphasis on “Promoting Transparency, Strengthening Accountability and Building Trust in Reporting” underscores the significance of the Summit at a time when stakeholders are demanding greater reliability and transparency in corporate and public-sector financial information.
