ANAN REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL IMPACT, SUPPORTS CHILDREN’S HOME AND SCHOOL EDUCATION

The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has reiterated its commitment to social responsibility and community development through its annual Community and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day, which featured humanitarian and educational support for Al-Ansar Children Home and Kuchiyako Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, both in Kuje, Abuja.

The outreach, held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, was organised by the ANAN Headquarters CSR Committee as part of the Association’s efforts to promote social welfare, support vulnerable children and contribute to the development of local communities.

During the visits, the Committee presented a variety of essential items, including foodstuff, stationery and other scholastic materials, to the beneficiaries. In a particularly impactful intervention, the Committee also paid the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) levies of selected pupils of Kuchiyako LEA Primary School for the next three school terms, helping to ease some of the financial burdens associated with their education.

The donated items were presented by the Chairman of the CSR Committee, Dr Cletus Odoh, mni, on behalf of the President and Chairman of Council of ANAN, Chief Zuwaira Talatu Kishimi, FCNA.

Dr Cletus reaffirmed that the intervention reflected the Association’s recognition of the importance of extending professional institutional values beyond the workplace to address the social and educational needs of communities. He said through the initiative, ANAN demonstrated that professional excellence is strengthened when accompanied by compassion, service and practical contributions to society.

At Al-Ansar Children Home, the visit was attended by Ustaz Salahudeen Yunus, Consultant, and Hajia Ramatu Esther Ogar, Matron. The home’s representatives expressed appreciation for ANAN’s thoughtful intervention, noting the value of the donated foodstuff and other essential materials in supporting the welfare and daily needs of the children under their care.

At Kuchiyako LEA Primary School, the team was received by Mr Idris Dikko Bello, Headmaster of the school, and Chief Nuhu Zakwuyi, Chief of Kuchiyako Community. The school and community representatives welcomed the donations, particularly the provision of scholastic materials and the payment of PTA levies for selected pupils for the next three terms.

The support was regarded as a timely contribution to educational access and community welfare, while the beneficiaries’ positive reception underscored the significance of partnerships between professional bodies, educational institutions and local communities.

Speaking on the significance of the annual CSR Day, Mr Wahab Shina Omoniyi, FCNA, a member of the CSR Committee, highlighted the importance of institutionalising corporate social responsibility as an essential component of professional service and community engagement. He noted that CSR Day provides an opportunity for ANAN to translate its commitment to accountability, service and responsible leadership into tangible benefits for people, particularly vulnerable children and pupils who require support to thrive.

He commended the President and Chairman of Council, Chief Zuwaira Talatu Kishimi, FCNA, the CSR Committee Chairman, Dr Cletus Odoh, mni, and other members of the Committee for their commitment to ensuring that the Association’s social responsibility programme delivered meaningful benefits to the selected institutions and their communities.

Also speaking at the event, another member of the Committee and past Registrar of the Association, Chief Terkaa I. Gemade, FCNA stressed that the payment of PTA levies for selected pupils was particularly significant because educational support should not be limited to the provision of learning materials alone. He believes interventions that help reduce the financial barriers to schooling can contribute to improved access to education and provide encouragement to pupils and their families.

According to him, the initiative goes beyond the presentation of material items; it represents an investment in human dignity, educational opportunity and the future of the community. He further emphasised that supporting children's homes and public schools helps foster inclusion, encourages community participation and demonstrates the positive role professional institutions can play in addressing societal needs.

The annual CSR outreach demonstrates ANAN’s determination to maintain a strong connection with the communities in which it operates. The visits to Al-Ansar Children Home and Kuchiyako LEA Primary School also highlight the importance of collaboration among professional organisations, community leaders, school administrators and other stakeholders in promoting the welfare of children.

The enthusiasm and appreciation expressed by the beneficiaries provided a fitting reflection of the programme’s purpose and impact. For ANAN, the initiative represents more than an annual activity; it is a reaffirmation of the principle that professional success carries with it a responsibility to serve humanity.

Through its continued commitment to community and corporate social responsibility, ANAN is reinforcing its role not only as a leading professional accounting association but also as a socially conscious institution dedicated to accountability, compassion, educational advancement and sustainable community development.
